Our Story
The Mama Exchange began with one simple belief: no mother should ever feel alone.​ Our founder, Nikki Desvousges, launched the organization in 2025 after the premature birth of her child and a sudden introduction to life in the NICU. That season was overwhelming—not just emotionally, but logistically. The need for baby gear, clothing, and maternity essentials became immediate and pressing. What started as a moment of personal need quickly turned into a realization: countless other moms are navigating similar struggles—often alone, and without the resources they deserve.​At the same time, Nikki noticed how many families had gently used or even brand-new items they were eager to donate, but didn’t have a trusted, mom-to-mom space to do so. That gap inspired The Mama Exchange—a community-based nonprofit dedicated to connecting mothers in need with those who are ready to give.​Founded in Central New Jersey, The Mama Exchange now serves as a safe and welcoming place for moms to share maternity and baby items—completely free of charge. But more than that, it's a place where empathy and generosity thrive, and where moms lift one another through every season of motherhood.​We provide essential items, support, and community because no mother should do it alone.
