In just 90 days, The Mama Exchange has transformed from a grassroots idea into a structured nonprofit serving as a lifeline for mothers and families across Central New Jersey. Our rapid growth and measurable outcomes demonstrate both the urgent need in our community and the strength of our model.

By the Numbers:

• 1,500+ families enrolled in less than three months — averaging more than 16 new families every day.

• 5,000+ essential items redistributed, ensuring access to diapers, wipes, formula, clothing, toys, maternity and postpartum supplies. This represents an estimated retail value of more than $75,000 placed directly back into the hands of families.​

• 80% of members report that they would have gone without an essential item if not for The Mama Exchange.

• Partnerships with foster families, CPS, schools, and local organizations have extended our reach to the most vulnerable populations, creating collaborative pipelines of support.

• Launched two signature programs:​

  • Sunday Spotlights — featuring and promoting local mom-owned businesses, generating community visibility and economic support.

  • Wishlist Wednesday — connecting donors to immediate needs through a live Amazon Wish List, resulting in hundreds of urgent requests fulfilled within hours of posting.

• Established a dedicated community warehouse, increasing organizational efficiency and laying the groundwork to support thousands more families in the year ahead.

 

Community Giveaways & Events:

• Target Car Seat Safety Event: Partnered with Target’s trade-in program by collecting expired car seats and distributing them to local moms, enabling them to receive discounts on safe, new car seats for their children.

• Back-to-School Drive: Supplied families with backpacks fully stocked with school supplies and distributed hundreds of additional essentials to ensure children started the year prepared and confident.

• Ongoing Giveaways: Hosted multiple themed giveaways — from baby monitors to high-demand essentials — keeping shelves moving and ensuring moms receive timely support.
